They said “you will not get vertical tower you will get 4 dots in place of 4 vertical tower.” The replied to contact apple for portable hotspot inactive mode.

An eSIM, or embedded SIM, is a digital SIM card embedded within a device. It allows users to activate a cellular plan without a physical SIM card, offering flexibility to switch carriers and manage multiple numbers easily.

Activating an eSIM on an iOS device involves a few steps. Here’s a general guide on how to do it:

Step-by-Step Guide to Activate eSIM on iOS Device

  1. Ensure Compatibility: Make sure your iPhone supports eSIM. Models from iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR onwards support eSIM.
  2. Update iOS: Ensure your iPhone is running the latest version of iOS. Go to Settings > General > Software Update to check for updates.
  3. Contact Your Carrier: Reach out to your carrier to get an eSIM. They will provide you with a QR code, an activation code, or a carrier app to activate your eSIM.
  4. Scan QR Code:
    • Go to Settings > Cellular.
    • Tap Add Cellular Plan.
    • Use your iPhone’s camera to scan the QR code your carrier provided.
If you received a confirmation code from your carrier, enter it after scanning the QR code.
  5. Manual Entry (if you have an activation code):
    • Go to Settings > Cellular > Add Cellular Plan.
    • Tap Enter Details Manually at the bottom of the screen.
    • Enter the details provided by your carrier.
  6. Using Carrier App (if applicable):
    • Download your carrier’s app from the App Store.
    • Follow the instructions in the app to activate your eSIM.
  7. Label Your Plans: If you have both a physical SIM and an eSIM, you can label them for easy identification. Go to Settings > Cellular > Cellular Plans, then tap on the plan you want to label and choose a label such as Primary, Secondary, Personal, Business, etc.
  8. Set Your Default Line (if using dual SIMs):
    • Go to Settings > Cellular > Default Line.
    • Choose which line you want to use as your default for iMessage, FaceTime, and for calling and messaging contacts who are not in your Favorites.
  9. Manage Cellular Settings:
    • You can choose which line to use for cellular data.
    • You can set one line for voice and text and another for data only.
    • Go to Settings > Cellular > Cellular Data and select the line you want to use for data.
  10. Verify Activation:
    • After setting up, make sure your eSIM is active by checking for signal bars and trying to make a call or send a text message.

If you encounter any issues during the process, it’s best to contact your carrier for further assistance.

Benefits of eSIM

  2. Device Compatibility: Only newer devices support eSIM, which may require an upgrade for some users.
  3. Activation Process: May require an internet connection for initial activation, which can be inconvenient in some situations.
  4. Limited Transferability: Transferring an eSIM from one device to another can be more complex than swapping a physical SIM card.
  5. Security Concerns: Remote provisioning of eSIMs could potentially be targeted by cyberattacks.
  6. Technical Issues: Some users may experience technical difficulties during the initial setup or when switching carriers.
